Bees making bees

Things are warming up - literally and metaphorically. The Red Mason Bees are mating on my bee nest. Note the male with the white face on top, and the larger female, without a white face, underneath.

  1. When Linnaeus named this bee in 1758 he thought the male and female were 2 different species Osmia rufa and Osmia bicornis which are now synonyms. Shows that even the great and famous can get it wrong
