In my garden sits a huge moth, well camouflaged against a grey stump. It is a Convolvulus Hawk Moth (
Agrius convulvuli). At such a size, with a wingspan often exceeding 10 cm, it has no trouble migrating from North Africa each summer - to as far north as the Arctic Circle.
